The Parvin Restaurant
Indian and South Asian

169 York Road, Haxby , Nr. York, YO32 3HB

After 12 years at its Acomb branch, the owners of The Parvin have been able to expand their successful business, with the opening of what is turning out to be an equally impressive restaurant in Haxby.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that dinner at Parvin's might be a modest affair, with its smart, unassuming frontage blending well with the quaint houses in this well-presented neighbourhood. Upon entering though, the newly refurbished, stylish dining room and bar area that awaits you is quite massive, with the capacity to seat and serve over 100 people.
Staff are polite and highly experienced - an invaluable trait that is put to great use in the kitchen, where the finest and freshest ingredients are used to create speciality balti dishes. The balti may be a traditional curry, but here it is cooked in a special wok using the chef's own particular recipe of fragrant herbs and spices, onions, peppers and Indian pickle in a deliciously thick curry sauce. There are also individual takes on tandoori and fish dishes, as well as other house inventions. If you can't decide what to have from amongst the broad range of options, the Parvin special comes highly recommended. A mixture of tender chicken, lamb, plump prawns and mushrooms, this is a luxury all-in-one curry that really satisfies. Whatever you choose, your meal is presented to you with flair, and those little flourishes encourage pause for thought before you tuck in.
Feel like a VIP by joining The Parvin's Spice Club. This earns you unlimited two-for-one main meals for a £20 yearly fee, and is an essential buy for when you become a fan of the restaurant and frequently return, which you undoubtedly will. With a £9.95 all-you-can-eat Sunday mega buffet running every week as well, you might just need to look into moving a little closer to the area, so as to be in a position to visit as much as possible, and to utilise their useful takeaway service too.
