There's considerably more to the Devonshire Arms in Dore than meets the eye - it's not only a cosy and traditional village pub, but also a chic and stylish wine bar called Amici. Amici was created by landlady Tina in 2014 as a relaxed and contemporary area for wining and dining. Running the kitchen is head chef Anthony who turns out impeccable food.
The same menu is available to diners in both the pub and the wine bar and is designed to include dishes that will appeal to all tastes, from Yorkshire fishcakes to venison and haggis burgers. In tandem, the specials board allows Anthony to introduce seasonal specialities such as game in autumn. Truly stunning food presentation makes each dish look like a work of art, especially the posh prawn cocktail which was adorned with beautiful towers of rolled cucumber and shellon king prawns. The winning factor though, was that everything tasted as good as it looked. The monkfish curry had plenty of firm, tender chunks of fish in a thick and spicy sauce and the slow-cooked belly pork was crowned by a very moreish duck bubble and squeak.
The Devonshire Arms was recently voted gastropub of the year by a local lifestyle magazine, the reasons for which are easily understood
