Maxi's Restaurant

Maxi's Restaurant, on the outskirts of Leeds city centre, has earned a deserved reputation as one of the premier Cantonese restaurants in the north of England. The comprehensive menu features dishes both familiar and exotic, with starters including steamed scallops with black bean sauce (£6.90) and barbecued spare ribs (£7.60). Main courses range from the usual sweet and sour, black bean sauce, and curried dishes (£8 to £9), to the extravagant and exotic bird's nest (£10.40) and aromatic, crispy duck (£12 to £35). A range of set menus is also available, starting with a meal for two (£18 a head) and growing ever more grand for large group bookings.

A wide variety of desserts (all priced around the £3 mark) provide a sweet and pleasant end to any meal, and a carefully selected and extensive wine list, complete with suggestions as to which meals are best suited to each, is a particularly thoughtful touch.
