Mill 67 Bistro @ The Millstones
British

Skipton Road, Felliscliffe, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG3 2LT

At the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, the chefs at Mill 67 Bistro give almost as much pleasure, to almost as many people, as the Dales themselves. Cleverly designed to provide an oasis of tranquillity from the traffic on the busy A59, here you will discover true Yorkshire hospitality. Generous starters, good meat and fish with an abundant variety of vegetables and delectable homemade desserts will leave you contemplating a long walk. The menu is extensive, with an enticing, imaginative selection of dishes and an early-bird option available Wednesday to Friday from 6pm until 7pm. At lunch, Tuesday to Saturday, a carvery buffet is served with hot freshly roasted meats, vegetables and trimmings with, sensibly, a choice of plate sizes. You can also choose from a daily-changing blackboard of sweets, or have a drink, sandwich or light lunch in the bar.
We went for dinner and chose a bottle of merlot from the Chilean Rapel Valley to accompany starters of fresh pear, rocket, goat's cheese and vine tomato salad with a balsamic syrup dressing, and some excellent large cooked-til-they-just-open moules mariniere in a creamy herb sauce. The duck and sea bass that followed were fresh, ample and served with more vegetables (cooked to perfection) than we could eat. Desserts are truly homemade and, from a choice of nine, we opted for a classic creme brûlée and traditional parkin cake with excellent creme anglaise.
