At the heart of historic Farnham you'll find unassuming eatery Kar Ling Kwong, where a modest exterior conceals the exotic culinary delights found within. Although under new management, it is still run by the same family that opened the restaurant in 1964. The decor has been recently revitalised and now boasts authentic statues, traditional pictures and illustrations by local artists.
Kar Ling Kwong offers an all-you-can-eat feast, serving as many dishes from the menu as you can devour at a bargain set price - all they ask is that you finish eating each dish before ordering the next. To begin, I chose the king prawn satay appetiser, which arrived along with a basket of fresh prawn crackers and a sweetand- sour dip - a tasty combination that certainly whetted my appetite. I asked the chef to choose my main; he presented me with beef in black pepper sauce with chilli, Szechuan king prawns and stir-fried vegetables - a dish which really packed a punch. Fresh coconut ice cream served in a coconut shell to finish was the perfect palatecleanser after such a piquant main. You can tell the chefs here are both experienced and passionate about their trade. They even offer dishes to take away - next time I fancy a night in, I'll make Kar Ling Kwong my first port of call
