Located in the heart of Beverley, Ogino is revered for its fantastic contemporary Japanese cuisine and its distinctive and informal dining experience. Alongside her hard-working team, head chef Reiko creates inspirational dishes with exciting flavour combinations and respects the Japanese food traditions that the extensive menu is rooted in.
The dishes are complex and beautifully presented, but the service is unpretentious and friendly from start to finish. Starters include the stunning seared Scottish salmon ceviche marinated in sweet soy vinaigrette with nori purée, salmon caviar, wasabi guacamole and a red beet tuile. Mains such as pan-fried yellowfin tuna steak with sesame oil, chilli, honey and garlic, served with Oriental noodles, tenderstem broccoli, shredded leeks and mixed peppers feature alongside sushi rolls and sashimi platters. There truly is something for everyone at Ogino. Kagoshima wagyu beef fillet steaks are a speciality here and are available to pre-order. Set menus offer great value and are a fantastic way to sample a range of the chef’s specialities. An extensive range of wine and Champagne is accompanied by lesser-known spirits and inventive cocktails.
If you’re planning a special occasion or prefer a more intimate dining experience, private dining menus are available. There’s even an impressive private-dining room that can accommodate up to 14 guests.
