Situated in the sleepy spa town of Ilkley on the banks of the River Wharfe, The Wells café is a lovely place to enjoy the natural produce that this part of Yorkshire has to offer. Serving the finest locally sourced ingredients, cooked to the highest of standards, this inviting restaurant offers wonderful food and a warm ambience.
The focus is very much on relaxed, enjoyable dining; early sittings are perfect for families and the later sittings provide a more intimate setting. The menu changes weekly to ensure the best use of seasonal produce. For starters you might enjoy grilled white asparagus with poached free-range egg and hollandaise sauce, followed by herb-crusted local trout fillet with a warm plum tomato and potato and olive salad. Vegetarians might tuck into stuffed aubergine with tomato, olive and onion stuffing and mozzarella glaze, while hearty mains such as pan-fried 7oz or 8oz rib-eye steak with peppercorn sauce will delight die-hard carnivores. The choice of accompanying potatos and vegetables changes too - perhaps Dauphinois potatoes and sesame, chilli and honey-drizzled broccoli. For dessert, indulge in homemade raspberry Bakewell served with creme fraiche. An early-bird menu is available on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6pm, and the last Friday of each month is 'Fish Night'. Private parties can be individually catered for, from £15 per person (minimum 12 people), making The Wells café ideal for any occasion
