The Pot House Hamlet, Silkstone, Barnsley, S75 4JU
Nestled in a historic hamlet, The Potting Shed Bistro provides a chocolate-box setting for brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. Carole Stevenson has given the venue her own personal stamp in the short while she's been there; and the buzzing yet friendly atmosphere bears testimony to her efforts in making it a welcoming place to eat.

Everything is freshly prepared on the premises and the food is locally sourced. Breathe in the enticing aroma of freshly baked bread as you sit down to look through the extensive and imaginative menu, which changes regularly to utilise the best of the season's offerings. Choose from starters such as mixed olives and hummus or baked Camembert with red onion jam, served with that crusty homebaked bread. Main dishes range from traditional Yorkshire fish and chips to freshly made pasta tossed in chervil sauce and crab, crayfish and coriander fishcakes with lemon creme fraiche. It's not just the genteel set that dine here: ramblers and dog-walkers are welcome to rest their weary legs in the cosy stone-flagged lounge, while the children make a bee-line for the ice cream parlour or traditional sweet shop. Also popular for wedding receptions, gourmet nights and themed evenings, The Potting Shed is full of pleasant surprise
