The Encore

The historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon provides the backdrop for this charming, atmospheric gastropub. It’s a home-away-from-home foodie haunt, and the perfect place to take a step back and relax, away from the hustle and bustle that Shakespeare’s legacy has left to the city.

Following a period of refurbishment, the pub now boasts beautiful high ceilings with exposed beams, roaring log fires, comfy Chesterfield armchairs and plenty of other stylish features. The atmospheric interior is complemented by The Encore’s delightful terrace, where guests can while away an afternoon and dine al fresco in the fairer months.

The Encore’s à la carte showcases delicious, seasonally changing fare such as spitroasted chicken with lemon and garlic confit, fries, jus and aioli; and 7oz fillet steak served with Dauphinoise potatoes, roasted mushroom, caramelised shallots and Béarnaise sauce. There’s also a fantastic range of shareable nibbles, starters, pizzas and side dishes that complete the deliciously well-rounded menu.

Don’t leave without tasting one of The Encore’s delicious desserts. The rum and raisin crème brûlée with coconut sugar in particular is particularly outstanding. The Encore serve a terrific Sunday lunch, boast a line-up of Friday evening live music and, on top of everything else, popular promotions – like the Monday to Friday fixed-price menu; the pre-theatre menu served between 5.30pm and 7pm, Monday to Friday; and the discounted fizz (Champagne and Prosecco), offered every Thursday and Friday – ensure a loyal following of foodies.
