Shimla Spice
Indian and South Asian

2 Copthall House, Station Square, Coventry, CV1 2GT

Shimla Spice is a contemporary Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant serving the best of Indian and Western cuisine. Set in the heart of Coventry, it's directly opposite the train station, making it an immediate, easy destination for a dinnertime reservation on the way home from work. The dining room has space for 100 to 140 covers, and is easily able to accommodate bookings for parties, engagements, or company meetings. There's also a private room available for up to 20 people.
The restaurant offers guests a sophisticated dining experience with effortlessly charming staff who provide a classic combination of knowledge, unique experience and discreet service. Their attention to detail and efficiency has been widely and positively recognised. Much of this is thanks to front-of-house manager and restaurant owner Nazrul, who ensures that all of his waiting staff are fully trained and well looked after, and analyses their strong points and weak points with a view to developing staff internally and eventually turning them into managers. As such, Nazrul believes his staff are not merely waiters, but true professionals.
All this, of course, would be nothing without the tantalising food that Shimla's kitchen team cooks up, ensuring guests come back for more. Menu options are very rich in spices such as cardamom, star anise and lemongrass, and the set menu deals are a real treat, representing great quality and value. For £34.95, two people can enjoy prawn puri, chicken jalfrezi, chicken tikka masala, vegetable curry, mushroom rice, poppadoms, and a Peshwari naan. Many of the dishes cooked at Shimla work nicely with clear spirits such as vodka or gin, and the potato chaat with masala spice sauce and the wholetail king prawns, cooked to the chef's own special recipe, come particularly well recommended if you enjoy a tipple or two with your curry. Many other drinks are available, ranging from beers up to the extravagance of a vintage bottle of Dom Perignon. A fantastic buffet lunch is also run every day (excluding Saturdays) from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
To top everything off, this year Shimla was awarded maximum marks by Coventry City Council's food safety team for hygiene, safety and cleanliness.
