Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
0.5 miles
Birmingham Road, Mappleborough Green, Studley, B80 7BJ
While offering all the charm of a traditional village pub, The Boot Inn is easily reached from Henley-in-Arden, Redditch, Studley, Alcester, Bromsgrove and Knowle. This 16th-Century building possesses period features and modern comforts, keeping its loyal locals happy and attracting diners from further afield too.
The main menu is packed with tempting dishes, complemented by some great blackboard specials and meal deals. The fixed-price supper menu offers two courses for £12.95 and three for £15.95. A traditional Sunday lunch platter is available for £11.95, Friday offers fish specials, and treats from the grill are served every Thursday. The Boot stocks guest ales alongside a range of lesser-known wines, which provide the perfect accompaniment to flavour-packed dishes such as duck and chicken paté with winter fruit chutney and toasted brioche. The slow-cooked pork belly and seared fresh black pearl scallops with black pudding, mashed potato, a Braeburn apple fritter, green beans and a sticky Crabbie's alcoholic ginger beer glaze was hearty, and the aromas of smoked cod loin and roasted duck breast wafted past us, helping us decide what to choose on our next visit.
Spare some time to examine the old maps and sepia photographs on the walls, showing the charming villages of the local area in days gone by. Rumour has it that some people feel 'a presence' in the rooms - all part of the magic of this old village pub.
