The Admiral Hood
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

Mosterton, Nr. Beaminster, DT8 3HJ

This thatched pub is pretty as a picture from the outside. The interior more than lives up to this excellent first impression, with low beamed ceilings, large fireplaces and rustic wooden furniture creating a comfortingly traditional ambience. Proprietor Kathleen and her team make guests feel right at home.
The bar stocks three real ales, ciders and lager, and an excellent selection of quality white, red and rosé wines and Prosecco. The menu is chalked up on a large blackboard and there is a carvery every Sunday and popular pie night every Thursday.
I plumped for juicy prawns smothered in a deliciously tangy Marie Rose sauce, while my companion tucked into gloriously gooey deep-fried battered Brie. For mains, I eagerly devoured rump steak, which was tender, succulent and rich in flavour, while my partner enjoyed the whopping Admiral beef burger with cheese and bacon. Topping off your meal with one of The Admiral Hood's homemade desserts is essential - I can highly recommend the indulgent chocolate brownie
