Trinity Bistro is the kind of place that would be at home nestled down a picturesque winding street in a pretty Italian village. In fact, it is tucked away down a quiet passageway just off a busy street in the heart of Dorchester, yet feels worlds away from the bustle of the town centre. The warmth from the staff and the inviting, homely feel make you feel instantly at ease - the open-plan kitchen and beach-themed decor give a very personal, friendly atmosphere, like you are being welcomed into someone's home.
On our visit, mouth-watering aromas drifted through the restaurant, and we nibbled warm homemade rolls and juicy olives while we browsed the tempting menu. After much thought, we settled on goat's cheese with a spiced plum coulis and crisp, delicate deep-fried oysters. Proprietor David's famous goat curry featured tender chunks of meat served with a soft mound of fluffy coconut rice, lavishly spiced for a delicious, nuanced flavour, while the risotto was a satisfying mix of chunky vegetables and a creamy sauce. It was almost impossible to choose between desserts; we finally plumped for the delectable gluten-free chocolate and almond torte and the zingy lemon posset, and were pleased as punch with our selection.
The team at Trinity Bistro served our dishes with obvious pride, and so they should. To say that the food is among the best in Dorchester is a serious understatement - in my opinion, it is some of the best in the South West
