The Sun Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

Lower Burton, Dorchester, DT2 7RZ

It's a real pleasure to sit out in the front courtyard at The Sun Inn, once you've waved goodbye to winter. Floral hanging baskets and gorgeous views of verdant countryside provide an appetiser for the eyes, before you order some of the Sun's wholesome home-cooking. Enjoy hot sirloin steak and Stilton salad with roasted pine nuts, herb-crusted salmon fillet with new potatoes and salad or perhaps one of the chef's specials accompanied by a jug of Pimm's, brimming with strawberries and fresh mint.
Meanwhile, in colder weather, log fires will draw you into this 17th-Century former blacksmith's - located on land once belonging to Henry VIII. Now run by Lucy and her team, it's a comfortable place to warm up with flaming-hot fajitas, venison sausages, or the famous carvery, served seven days a week and including best West Country beef, pork and veg. A range of dishes such as chicken liver and brandy paté, or goat's cheese and fig parcels with balsamic glaze are available alongside. There's plenty for vegetarians, wines by the glass to complement your meal, and real ales like Somerset Butcombe.
The Sun Inn offers a play area for the kids, to be found on the patio to the rear of the pub, as well as two ample car parks. There's lots to do nearby, so why not make a day of it?
