Nestled on the outskirts of the ancient stannary town of Tavistock lies The Trout ‘n’ Tipple, widely regarded as Tavistock’s best-kept secret. This charming traditional inn, with slate flooring and three fireplaces, offers something for everyone.
The extensive menu, which showcases locally caught fish dishes, meat sourced from the renowned local butcher, and several vegetarian options, is complemented by a daily specials board, a gluten-free menu and an enticing homemade desserts board. The main bar stocks four local cask-conditioned ales, a great selection of wine and plenty of non-alcoholic options. There is a large dining area, which overlooks a courtyard garden that’s home to a wishing well and is perfect for al fresco drinking and dining. Upstairs you’ll find a family room that’s perfect for children thanks to a pool table, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation, selection of toys and a football table. All of this can be monitored from the restaurant or bar, should parents wish to stay downstairs but keep an eye on their children.
