Sitting alongside a picturesque river in Tavistock, The East Gate Café offers a stunning setting accompanied by tasty food and drink. Basking in the sunshine on the outside decked terrace, the river trickling beside us, we looked over the menu of foodie favourites, from various breakfasts to hearty lunches and more.
We opted for the refreshing crabcakes with a chilli dip and lamb koftas to start. This was then followed by a succulent steak with all the trimmings, and one of the café's homemade individual steak and Stilton pies. We finished on yummy treats of a classic creme brulée and a sticky, hot banana sponge with a gooey toffee sauce. The desserts confirmed our feeling of having found a hidden gem amongst the charming streets of Tavistock.
