One of Cotford St Luke's few original buildings, The Chapel stands proud on Graham Way. Lovingly brought back to life by owner Shaun O'Reilly, it is much more than a restaurant or a free house; it is in every way a design feat, that once entered will never be forgotten. With a large bar area (complete with font) and two level dining areas, it is unsurprising that customers enjoy marvelling at the beautiful interior just as much as they do the excellent food and drink.

For starters I opted for the Cajun chicken salad, and was presented with a dish filled with vibrant green leaves adorned with bacon and some spicy chicken. Naturally, this set my mouth alight with delight. My partner was impressed with the crunchy, crispy beer-battered mushrooms, which were tender and complemented by a creamy blue dip. Fresh fish is available, but I decided to settle for the locally sourced extra mature 8oz rib-eye steak. Shaun, the owner, informed us that it had been hung for just the right amount of time before making it to my plate. It was a fantastic dish, enhanced by a juicy garlic beef tomato, some buttery asparagus and a divine pepper sauce. My partner's empty plate confirmed that the duck breast had been a hit, and there were just a few drops of orange and redcurrant sauce left for me to sample.

The desserts cover a range of traditional favourites, and my chocolate pudding with ice cream reminded me of my younger days. This kept me smiling as I finished what had been a truly superb meal.

The Chapel is certainly a destination pub, and I have to say it is well worth the journey from wherever you start out. But in my opinion it is more than a restaurant, and more than a pub - it's a vision, and definitely one worth seeing.
