Named after a quaint Italian village known for its emphasis on food, family and hospitality, Belluno is an Italian oasis located In Bideford and Newton St. Cyres. Since opening Belluno, with its homely, welcoming decor, has made a distinct impression on both locals and visitors. The menu is bursting with traditional Italian favourites and whether you’re craving pasta, fish, meat or pizza, you won’t be disappointed. We started with rustic minestrone soup, and Belluno capesante – juicy scallops served with spinach, potato purée and pecorino sauce. We accompanied these with a chilled Birra Moretti and a fantastic Mojito.
To follow, I plumped for a seasonal treat – risotto primavera with chargrilled chicken, spring vegetables and mascarpone. My companion sampled the beautifully presented and delectable involtini, comprising pork tenderloin stuffed with wild mushrooms, ham and spinach served with creamy Savoy cabbage and pancetta. All produce is sourced locally, and dishes are made from scratch daily – this evident freshness only added to our meal. Dessert was an easy choice – creamy panna cotta with poached pear, raspberries and mint, and wonderfully light tiramisu were perfectly accompanied by rich Italian coffees.
