Howlers Restaurant

At the top of Union Street, the main shopping high street through the centre of Torquay, you'll find this delightful little restaurant, serving traditional meals in a homely atmosphere, in the heart of the English Riviera. Family run by new owners Mandy and Johanne Barnard, Howlers Restaurant is now your local neighbourhood restaurant, serving great steaks with a warm and friendly welcome. Committed to providing great service and slowly upgrading the facilities, they have created a little oasis of calm with a cosy and romantic dining room and freshly-prepared great food. Try the Tiger Lily steak with all the trimmings, always a popular choice on a menu full of traditional English favourites.

Other favourites include the Lamb Langara, which sees rack of lamb glazed in honey, roasted on the bone and served with a mint and redcurrant sauce; or the Chicken Belgravia - a succulent breast of chicken stuffed with garlic cheese, wrapped in bacon with a white wine, cream and mushroom sauce. Vegetarians will be delighted with the choice on offer, which includes the likes of locally-sourced handmade nut rissoles with a spicy tomato sauce.

This lovely eatery is great for lunch if you're ambling around Torquay, however they also cater for functions and parties. Visit in the evenings and take advantage of their set three-course menu for only £18 a head from Tuesday to Friday evenings.
