Positioned on Paignton’s seafront, Shoreline is an unexpected treasure. The first-floor glass building offers breathtaking panoramic views across beautiful Torbay and it’s the perfect place to chill out and soak up the relaxed beach vibe.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Shoreline’s menu offers a combination of classic dishes and contemporary cuisine, and the restaurant can accommodate large families as well as smaller groups of friends. Those with dietary requirements are welcome too – the varied menu means no one will feel left out.
Seated at a window table, we watched the surf break on the sand as we enjoyed crispy tempura calamari with garlic mayonnaise and home-baked focaccia with pesto, olives and balsamic dressing. We were tempted by the various sharing platters, but eventually opted for a homemade Mexican burger – hand-pressed and loaded with pulled chilli beef and jalapeños – and the best pizza I have eaten in a long time. At Shoreline, pizza dough is left to prove for 72 hours and each one is cooked in an Italian wood-fired oven to give a crispy base and a perfectly chewy crust. I chose to combine my meal with a refreshing glass of cold local beer.
I would recommend this eatery to anyone looking for great food in an idyllic setting. Shoreline is open all year round, but be sure to check the website for any seasonal variation.
