Ye Olde Jolly Sailor
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

46 Northumberland Place, Teignmouth, TQ14 8DE

Set back from the road, with a courtyard to the front and rear, this delightfully quaint pub in the popular seaside town of Teignmouth has all the olde-worlde charm you would expect of an inn dating back to 1132. Substantial starters, mains and homemade sweets all feature locally sourced produce and there are a wide variety of dishes on offer. My companion started with the prawn cocktail in Marie Rose sauce while I enjoyed local crab - both were delightfully presented with a mixed salad and lovely fresh bread. Selected from the specials board, the succulent pork tenderloin
in a pink peppercorn sauce with mash and a selection of seasonal vegetables was truly scrumptious, and my companion assured me that the tender rump steak with chunky chips, peas, onion rings, mushrooms, salad and coleslaw was just as good. The homemade sweets ranged from apple crumble with cream or custard to banoffee pie served with ice cream - the perfect treat for a summer afternoon
