Liaise Bistro sits overlooking Newton Abbot’s bustling Market Square. This family-run business prides itself on offering a little bit of everything, from hearty breakfasts to popular drink-themed events. We visited on a Saturday, which just so happened to also be Cocktail Night, with two-for-one cocktails and live music entertainment.
We chose to begin our tasty supper with delectable cocktails and two of the tapas-style starters. I opted for juicy garlic king prawns, while my guest tucked into a delicious pot of melting Camembert with red onion chutney. For mains, I went for a succulent fillet steak, cooked medium rare and served with all the trimmings. My partner savoured the sea bass with creamy gratin potatoes. We finished our night on a delightfully indulgent note with a shared dessert – decadent cookies and cream cheesecake with alternating layers of creamy filling and biscuity goodness. To accompany your meal you can choose from the diverse wine list, although it’s also worth knowing about the gin list. Liaise Bistro is a haven for gin aficionados, with the list of tantalising options including Copperhead, Tarquin’s Blackberry and Dorset’s own Conker gin. We certainly plan to come back for the popular gin night, which includes a gin and tonic and a tasty helping of cod and chips.
