The Old Pottery Restaurant resides on the gateway to Dartmoor. Its location makes it an ideal pit-stop at which to enjoy a bite to eat before or after a walk on the moors. There are three picturesque pottery kilns in the garden and four on-site museums for history-lovers. The restaurant is spacious yet welcoming, and once you step through the dog-friendly conservatory you’ll discover a beautiful garden complete with plant pots, benches and tables, perfect for al fresco dining. There’s also an outdoor play area and a massive indoor marble run, named Snooki, to keep the kids entertained.
The team of experienced chefs serves the highest-quality food using only the freshest local ingredients. For a light lunch why not try a selection of nibbles including polenta chips with sweet chilli jam, or order the light and vibrant chilli-, ginger-, lime- and hazelnut-crusted chicken breast and mango salad? Homemade steak and stout pie, and oak-smoked Cheddar sourdough rarebit topped with smoked streaky bacon and poached eggs are rich and comforting.
Also on offer are a range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes, tempting desserts, spectacular breakfasts and an ever-so-popular Sunday lunch. The homemade cream teas are legendary, and the massive scones need to be seen to be believed. Complement your meal with a pint of local ale, glass of wine, barista coffee, a decadent hot chocolate with all the trimmings or local soft drink.
