After 25 years in hospitality, restaurant manager Cedric Chirossel and chef Richard Guest finally decided to do what they both originally set out to do - open a small and informal bistro-style restaurant. The restaurant is named after food-loving Augustus Gloop from Roald Dahl's renowned children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Grown-up gourmands will love Richard's simply prepared, delicious dishes such as sea bream, rump of lamb and scallops. The ingredients are carefully sourced from the locality and all over Europe, lending the meals a fresh and seasonal flavour. Out front, Cedric provides relaxed and informal service; the atmosphere in this cosy restaurant is more like that of a Parisian brasserie than a 30-cover bistro. The menu is honestly priced and the alfresco dining area in the courtyard only adds to the vibrant, Continental feel.
