The Crown Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

Ganges Hill, Fivehead, Taunton, TA3 6QP

The Crown Inn Fivehead is a real 16th-Century traditional family pub at the very heart of village life. Located next to St Martin's Church in the small parish of Fivehead, it lies nine miles from Taunton and 20 miles from Yeovil, on a ridge of land that stretches from Langport to the Blackdown Hills. The ridge overlooks Sedgemoor, part of the Somerset Levels, to the north and the Vale of Isles to the south. The Crown itself is full of charm and character, with locals and visitors drinking at the bar or making the most of the warming log burners. Flagstone flooring, exposed oak beams and various trinkets adorning the walls give it a real old-world feel.
The Crown is a hub of activity; there's always something going on. Wednesday nights see you test your general knowledge at the popular mid-week quiz which begins at 8.30pm. Not only is there cash up for grabs but, just for fun, there is also the 'pint question' - get it right and win a free pint for each team member. The Crown also offers a skittles alley for those who want to challenge themselves and let off a little steam between drinks; and if all that excitement has got you hungry, a comprehensive menu of popular pub favourites is on hand to satisfy every stomach. Light lunchtime offerings include homemade soup of the day served with a crusty bread roll, bacon-and-Brie-loaded skins, ham, egg and chips, ploughman's and a selection of sandwiches and rolls. The evening menu brings more hearty homemade options to the table such as steak and ale pie, chilli, luxury fish pie and more. The choice from the menu and specials board is impressive. Homemade desserts comprise all grandma's favourites - crumbles, pies and more. Other options include spotted dick, treacle sponge and ice creams. So bring mother, daughter and baby to The Crown Inn Fivehead for a warm welcome and service that will please one and all. They even provide a fish-and-chip takeaway so you can enjoy this fantastic cuisine at home.
