With wall-to-wall windows overlooking the stunning River Dart, The River Restaurant at Dart Marina Hotel & Spa has been designed to allow the river to take centre stage. Guests come for the exceptional food, of course, but also for the views, which are just magical, especially in the evenings when the restaurant's lights make the river shimmer. Head chef Peter Alcroft has previously worked with Raymond Blanc, and this experience has shaped his style. Peter allows every ingredient to shine, and describes the ethos of his cooking modestly with three words: 'provenance, flavour and simplicity'. Menus change seasonally and may feature the likes of double-baked Sharpham Brie soufflé with vanilla pear salad; trio of Blackawton lamb with pea and chorizo fricassee; carpaccio of fillet beef; beetroot-cured salmon; tian of Brixham crab; and potted sea trout. Desserts may include apple crumble cheesecake and blackcurrant sorbet.
