The Swan at Rowberrow
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

Rowberrow, South of Churchill Crossroads (off A38), BS25 1QL

The peaceful Swan at Rowberrow was created from three knocked-through miners' cottages, and has been around since the late 1700s. Starting life as a cider house, today the real draw is the food - although its roots are still firmly maintained, with Thatcher's cider for sale.
On arrival we were warmly greeted by the staff, and took a seat by the window to peruse the indulgent à la carte menu. To start I ordered the crab and crayfish cocktail, while my partner opted for the whitebait. Mains included hearty beef and red wine lasagne, but I opted for the steak, mushroom and Butcombe ale pie with chips, veg and gravy. My partner couldn't resist the lure of the slow-roasted, spiced pork belly in onion and cider gravy, served with mustard mash and Ashton cider and apple sauce - British cuisine at its best. If you have room for dessert, there's a great variety of naughty but light treats.
Whether you visit for the great food or just to enjoy the large selection of ales and wines in the garden and marquee area, The Swan at Rowberrow offers amazing value for money. As we left we couldn't help feeling a little jealous of the locals, who have this great country pub on their doorstep. Open: Mon-Thurs noon-3pm, 6pm-11pm; Fri & Sat noon- 11pm; Sun noon-10.30pm Food
