Having already been named TripAdvisor’s top pick of the ten best-rated independent pizzerias in the UK, A cappella was also hailed by The Guardian as Bristol’s Best Budget Italian in 2011 and was voted Bristol’s Best Café 2012 at the Bristol Good Food Awards.
A cappella has been widely regarded as the city’s best pizzeria for a while and, unsurprisingly, is exceedingly popular among both locals and visitors. It’s situated on Wells Road between South Bristol’s creative communities of Totterdown and Knowle. Owned and run by husband-and-wife team Paul and Jennifer, this charming Continental-style café offers locally roasted coffee, delicious homemade cakes and generous breakfasts and lunches – all prepared on the premises and cooked fresh to order.
From 5pm onwards, A cappella transforms into an informal candlelit restaurant. The attentive and friendly staff will ignite your love for handmade gourmet pizza and tempting Mediterranean tapas. Coffees, desserts and Marshfield Farm ice cream are served until late and they operate a bring your own alcohol policy – just pop to the shop next door for a bottle. Children are always welcome and, in the warmer months, you can dine al fresco. A cappella fills up very quickly, so booking is essential. Fancy a night in? Simply place your order by phone and either go and collect your food, or take advantage of the local delivery service.
