If you want an authentic taste of Nepal then this restaurant, tucked away in the centre of Plymouth, is the place to go. From the incredibly warm welcome to the internal decor, The Ganges & Gurkha Restaurant is spot on. The menu is designed by the charming owner, who was born in Kathmandu, and features local ingredients and specialities from the region. Should you visit, you simply must try Nepalese favourite, momo, which sees dumplings filled with minced lamb, chicken or veg mixed with authentic spices, then steam-cooked and served with Nepali achar - wonderfully tasty. The whole menu, not just the Nepalese selection but the Indian too, is truly impressive. I had thukpa soup, King Prawn Everest, jeera-fried rice, lentil dal makhani and cucumber raita. A special Gurkha Regiment meal for two comes in at a very reasonable price and the menu is exciting and varied. The Ganges is a real find by the sea
