Perched on the golden sands of Carbis Bay, Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate offers dining with a panoramic seaside view. Step in for morning coffee, enjoy a barefoot family lunch at the Beach Club, or indulge in an exquisite dinner at the award-winning Sands Restaurant.
As we arrived for our evening meal in June, people were still playing in the sea and there was a fun, holiday vibe. Having chosen to dine at the Beach Club, we were treated to a calm atmosphere which, combined with the beach-chic decor, made the venue a real escape from the hustle and bustle of nearby St Ives. We began by browsing the wine list, which featured a carefully chosen international selection, including a tip-top tipple from local vineyard Camel Valley. After ordering drinks, we moved on to peruse the food menu. I was drawn to one of the specials - Newlyn crab salad with samphire and cherry tomatoes, whilst my partner devoured scallops accompanied by parsnip purée and crackling shard. The main course was equally impressive. My partner went for a West Country steak, cooked to perfection, and I enjoyed a seafood paella; a delicious mix of shellfish, squid, chorizo and saffron rice. Generous main courses meant that we needed to take a break before tackling the dessert menu, where the sticky toffee and date pudding paired with Cornish clotted cream won our favour. Each dish was carefully prepared and beautifully presented.
Fully sated, we sat back and began planning our return visit the Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate - we're keen to sample the British delights at Sands Restaurant next time
