The Chefs Table
Bistro

49 Long Street Tetbury GL8 8AA
From sharing kitchens with Pierre Koffman and Raymond Blanc, to living and working in the beautiful Cotswold countryside, chef Michael Bedford's journey to the realisation of The Chef's Table has been an exciting one. Along the way he has picked up a Michelin star and now, with his wife Sarah, he has set about the creation of a unique dining experience.
So what's The Chef's Table all about? In a nutshell, it's about sensibly priced, rustic French cuisine that uses quality produce from the local area, combined with ingredients from the markets of London and Paris. The ever-changing menu is prepared in the theatrical open kitchen - if it's your first visit, ask to be seated in full view to watch the expert team at work. Michael also runs an accomplished cookery school in this former antiques store, and there is a small on-site deli where you can buy fresh fish and home-baked bread, amongst other artisan foods.
Depending on the season, you might begin with the French classic, croque monsieur, topped with Michael's twist of organic salmon and celeriac remoulade. Follow this with fricassée of confit rabbit leg and pork belly drizzled in a light mustard cream sauce. Desserts are to die for; the hot praline soufflé with toffee bananas is a particular highlight. In a rush? You can pre-order and take your meal away with you - another example of the flexibility that The Chef's Table is renowned for. Outstanding cuisine minus the fuss and frills; The Chef's Table will stand the test of time.
