Jacks Bar & Brasserie is an independently owned restaurant in Portishead (with a sister restaurant on Bristol's Harbourside) offering fresh, locally sourced dishes in stylish and relaxed surroundings. Food lovers can embark on a culinary experience to savour at this top dining venue. Situated overlooking Portishead Marina with a large outdoor terrace, Jacks Brasserie invites you to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and chill out alfresco.
From the moment we caught sight of the impressive brasserie in Portishead, set on the edge of the sparkling water, we knew it was going to be a special evening. Although we were dining inside on this occasion, we were still able to enjoy the spectacular views through the floor-to-ceiling windows. In fact, it was hard to tear our eyes away to look at the menu - although, when we did, we found it was packed to the hilt with mouth-watering choices.
Executive chef Simon Davis (chef profile page 32) creates a menu showcasing both classic British dishes with a twist and a selection of world cuisine, made using the best quality ingredients that can be found in the West Country. Starter dishes might include potted shrimps with blade mace, tarragon and toasted English muffin, or cider-steamed mussels with homemade bacon bread. Onglet of West Country beef is sure to make a mean main, accompanied by baby onions, bacon, mushrooms, red wine sauce and hand-cut chips, while seafood lovers should enjoy whole baked Brixham plaice with buttered samphire, Cornish new potatoes and confit tomato. Soak up the great views and friendly atmosphere over breakfast, lunch or supper and tuck into a wide range of mouth-watering dishes and beverages, including Jack's famous chargrilled burgers and hand-cut chips. Treat yourself to a sumptuous Sunday lunch (priced at £13.95 for two courses and £16.95 for three) or dinner on Fintastic Fish Fridays, when customers can scale up their suppers and enjoy a whole fish and a bottle of wine for just £35 with two people sharing.
