Moorend Spout

The Moorend Spout is a homely pub tucked away in a little country idyll in Nailsea. Here a warm welcome awaits you from Sharon and Terry Beardshaw. Sharon and Terry are rightly proud of their restaurant with its community feel, which offers a variety of dishes and home-cooked Sunday fare. I chose succulent roast beef with all the trimmings, while my friend had a generous portion of fish and chips, executed with aplomb. Then, of course, there was pudding. The apple and strawberry crumble with cream was satisfyingly sweet and the sponge with custard turned out to be a truly traditional treat. It soon became clear that here, simple and consistent home-cooked food, and great value for money, is the name of the game - and judging by the contented faces all around, this is a successful strategy.

The chef's specials board certainly mirrored the season and we made a note to go for one of the themed menus available next time. Dog walkers (and their four-legged friends) are more than welcome at Moorend Spout's top bar, and even during busy times you'll always experience customer service with a smile. So, if you are looking for a classic home-spun experience with undeniable charm, then the Moorend Spout it is.
