The Full Quart

The Full Quart is a large family pub situated just outside Weston-super-Mare. It has a large beer garden with a superb children's play area and, in homage to man's best friend, plenty of bowls of water for visiting dogs.

Relaxing into the surroundings, my partner and I began our meal by enjoying a sharing platter. Generously loaded with onion rings, garlic mushrooms, chicken wings and garlic bread, it was a feast in itself. For my main course I thought I would try one of the chef's daily specials, the steak and ale pie - succulent chunks of beef covered in suitably beery gravy and topped with a puff pastry lid. There is no skimping on portions here and it was all I could do to finish the enormous pile of chips that came with it. We washed down our meals with pints of locally produced Thatcher's cider - thirst-quenching, proper cider.

To finish the meal I opted for the Belgian waffles, which arrived smothered in chocolate with a generous dollop of ice cream. I left this charming pub fully satisfied with the excellent meal and wonderful service I had experienced. If you want a pub with something for everyone then The Full Quart is a must.
