Bay Leaf is a bright, contemporary Indian restaurant located within easy reach of Exeter's bustling city centre. The decor is vibrant and stylish, the soundtrack lively and modern, the atmosphere welcomingly informal and the prices unbeatable. After munching poppadoms with delicious chutneys, we indulged in starters of honeyglazed mushroom stuffed with heady spiced minced meat, and aromatic tandoori smoked duck. The varied drinks menu advises on complementing dishes - a useful guide. We ended up enjoying a few cold Cobra beers to accompany our classic Indian dishes: sizzling and succulent chicken dopiaza and the expertly spiced garlic-chilli lamb. Unique specialities are also available, from marinated fillet of sea bass to Bollywood shank (lamb shank cooked with sweet pumpkins). To finish, we were presented with thick wedges of juicy orange and hot towels - another professional touch that made this experience so enjoyable. A takeaway service is also available
