For a cosy meal or special celebration, head for Al Farid Moroccan restaurant. Having discovered Al Farid in the heart of Exeter in Cathedral Yard, we entered to discover a world of silks and souks, filled with spicy, fruity aromas, dramatic shades of red and purple and evocative music. The menu offers variety - 30 mezze to choose from (including lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options), as well as a wide choice of main-course dishes such as the lamb and beef meatball tagine made with saffron, cumin seed, nutmeg and turmeric and the popular slow-cooked lamb shank tagine. Lunch is available for only £6.95 and the evening menu will delight you with six mezze and a bottle of house wine for two people for £40. Groups of six or more can sit back and enjoy the carnival of flavours from the chef's selection for just £20. To finish, try the cardamom coffee or mint tea and a hookah with flavoured tobacco on the balcony.
