The Arundell Arms restaurant has a well-deserved reputation for culinary excellence; there’s a reason they’ve held two AA rosettes continuously since 1987. The menus are constantly changing to make use of the best seasonal. Tuck into the chef’s recommendation, the braised pork cheeks, which are served with black pudding, spinach, cider and star anise; or perhaps the delicious pastry croustade stuffed with ProvenНal vegetables, Gruyère and creamed leeks is the right choice for you.
The five-course tasting menus are ideal for a special evening out, and if you’re hoping for a terrific Sunday lunch with the family, the scrumptious roast dinners are hard to beat. The steamed chocolate sponge is a popular favourite, but after a hearty plate of pork tenderloin or roast sirloin of beef, the glazed lemon tart is an enjoyably subtle option to finish on. That is, unless you’d rather round off your meal in style with coffee and petits fours. Both hotel guests and non-residents are welcome to enjoy afternoon tea, lunch or supper at this delightful venue, which has been in the Fox-Edwards family for generations.
The attentive staff are ready to provide you with the tipple of your choice from the well-stocked bar, and are informative about the hand-picked wine list. This 300-year-old establishment offers varietals from around the world, all supplied by award-winning Devon-based wine merchant Christopher Piper Wines.
