Inspired by their Queen Square festival roots, the team at Eat Drink Bristol Fashion opened its second permanent venue in the city at Wapping Wharf’s Cargo development in October 2016. Located on the top deck of Cargo 1, Root looks out across Bristol’s iconic harbour, offering an unrivalled view of the city skyline from the large terrace. It offers a delightful al fresco dining experience. Launching as Chicken Shed to serve guilt-free fried chicken, made using organic and free-range birds with the highest welfare standards, the restaurant at Cargo is set up to regularly change and evolve its offering. The one constant theme is sustainability, which is the focus of the team’s menu. Guided by a fi eld-to-fork principle, the restaurant champions traceability and provenance, and always offers a social menu that is perfect for sharing. Equally admirable are the fantastic service and the friendly, welcoming staff. Natural wine forms part of a new and eclectic drinks list, so whether it’s a light bite, midweek lunch or a celebratory dinner, there’s always a delicious tipple to suit the occasion. The venue’s contemporary look, relaxed atmosphere and ideal city-centre location combine to make this a fantastic choice for your next meal out.
