Nestled in the quiet town of Midsomer Norton is No.6 Restaurant – an inviting fully licensed hub that’s been serving locals and tourists alike since opening in 2008. It’s a relaxed environment with understated, tasteful decor and space for 30 diners. Offering both café and restaurant food, every dish that leaves the kitchen is fresh and vibrant. The hearty breakfast menu and lively lunch offering will excite your appetite, while the dinner list is packed with modern, seasonal delights. The daily specials change with the rhythms of the seasons, so there’s always something new and exciting to try. If you’re after a sweet treat you can pop in anytime for a delicious coffee and slice of homemade cake (there are plenty of tempting gluten-free options, too).
My dining partner and I selected our dishes from the indulgent Valentine’s menu – a tempting three-course set menu. We were spoilt for choice with the diverse selection on offer. Our knowledgeable waitress recommended some excellent drinks to pair with our choices and brought our attention to new dishes.
To start my partner plumped for a meaty terrine (the chef even adjusted the dish slightly to cater to her dietary requirements), while I was seduced by juicy Thai-style prawns. Our delicious starters left us hungry for more and both of us were drawn to the inspiring seafood choices for mains. I couldn’t resist the creamy risotto topped with fillet of sea bass, while my partner opted for the soft salmon – a fresh dish reminiscent of summer dining. Desserts were an absolute delight, as my rich chocolate cheesecake proved – it’s an absolute must-try for chocolate-lovers. My partner was enticed by the warming apple crumble which was a comforting end to her otherwise light menu choices.
Next time you’re roaming the rural streets of Midsomer Norton, be sure to pop into No.6 Restaurant for a hearty breakfast, delicious coffee and cake or indulgent dinner – you won’t be disappointed.
