The Old Station Inn, a two-time winner of the Brains Pub of the Year award, offers a traditional pub atmosphere and a restaurant housed in a railway carriage, modelled on The Royal Scotsman’s dining car. The cosy bar area is a trove of bric-a-brac, enhancing the pub’s nostalgic and relaxed ambience. There’s plenty of outdoor seating and the added delight of a crazy golf course to keep the kids entertained.
Neville and Debbie King took ownership of The Old Station Inn in 2008, and have been providing a unique and delightful dining experience ever since. Neville’s 35 years of experience as a chef are showcased in a menu of homemade and freshly cooked classics, embellished with flavours from around the world. Much of the fish and meat on offer is locally sourced. For starters, we sampled the crab, jumbo shrimp, prawns and oak-smoked salmon cocktail as well as the tasty chicken liver pâté, which is served with crostini and fruit chutney. My main of pulled lamb shoulder came with bubble and squeak and rich red wine and mint jus. The roasted butternut squash filled with mushroom and pine nut risotto is a delicious vegetarian alternative. For dessert, we would recommend that you indulge in the chef’s signature dish – a delicious chocolate mousse trio.
