You definitely cannot miss The Bear. Why? That would be thanks to the statue of Snowy, the restaurant's beloved, huge polar bear mascot who stands above the door, quietly extending its front paw to welcome guests inside. Upon entering, you'll immediately get caught up in the fun and sociable atmosphere that the friendly staff cultivate. Bartenders laugh and joke as they gather drinks for groups of friends catching up with each other, and waiters deliver plates of immaculately presented food to hungry diners. Our starters of carrot, almond and feta terrine and chicken and pork timbale both came with neatly arranged balsamic-roasted grapes and crostini, while the main elements were constructed in a colourful and inviting way, just ready to be delved into. The timbale, in particular, was attention grabbing for its interesting texture and immaculate presentation. The meal crescendoed thanks to my wonderful main course of pan-fried pollock. The fish surrendered its plump flakes of flesh very easily, and contrasted well against the crispy, Cajun-spiced skin. The accompanying gremolata mash had just the right hint of sunny lemon zing, too. Across the table, the roast pumpkin, Bath blue cheese and toasted pumpkin seed risotto went down all too easily. It offered the kind of flavours that we thought many will imitate, but few will serve quite like The Bear
