The finest of dining experiences can be found in central Woodstock. The elegant exterior of The Feathers is just a hint at things to come. Inside, you'll find a stylish bar, talented kitchen team and an unswerving devotion to customer service.
It was without persuasion that we plumped for the tasting menu on our visit. How better to sample all that this exceptional restaurant has to offer than with small portions of a wide range of specialities, each paired with complementing wine? We were treated to course after course of delectable dishes. The duck liver was meltingly soft and delicate with a dusting of candied walnuts, and was matched brilliantly with a glass of De Laire Graff, which is delightfully crisp with a hint of strawberry. The fillet of brill was light, and the lobster raviolo simply divine. We raved about the saddle of roe deer, which was served nicely rare, as tender as a fillet steak and rich in flavour.
Cheese connoisseurs will delight in choosing five cheeses for the cheeseboard - a perfect blue and tangy goat's cheese were among our favourites. We rounded off our gourmet feast with indulgent apple terrine and blackberry sorbet. I recommend supping The Feathers' own sloe gin, which is rich and silky. The Feathers also offers a vegetarian tasting menu, demonstrating how well this establishment caters to all diners' tastes and preferences. Feel like a break in between courses? Pull up an armchair in front of one of the log fi res and relax awhile. This really is a place where you can sit back and be truly spoilt
