The Spotted Cow at Lower Bourne

Sitting in four acres of wooded garden beside the Bourne stream on the edge of Farnham, The Spotted Cow is a tranquil and idyllic place for a spot of lunch, but equally ideal for a peaceful evening meal. Service from the Cow Crew is friendly and welcoming and the food delicious.

The pub has undergone an amazing transformation over the last few years. Inside, the decor is warm and cosy with a bit of a contemporary edge, with stunning black and white art adorning the walls. The recently appointed chef is working magic in the kitchen, producing delectable dishes that not only taste wonderful but are presented beautifully. A large varied main menu of homemade food is on offer alongside plenty of seasonally changing dishes. We began with a platter of smoked salmon with a punchy mustard and dill sauce and another fish starter comprising crayfish stacked on a mixed leaf salad and drizzled with Marie Rose sauce. To follow we opted for the roulade of local corn-fed chicken with a pork and chorizo mousse in a tomato and basil sauce, and chicken and spare ribs with chunky chips. We finished in suitably decadent style with a velvety creme brulee and light, fluffy citrus cheesecake - delicious. A bottle of well-priced sauvignon accompanied our fine three-course meal. This is a fabulous pub in a fabulous location - I will certainly be back
