The elegant Holly Bush can be found in Frensham, an untouched parish village that lies on the bank of the River Wey. The local area is a Surrey beauty spot; both the luscious Alice Holt forest and the stunning Frensham Little Pond are just a stone’s throw away. National Trust footpaths run across the surrounding countryside, and the nearby Bourne Wood was a filming location for both Gladiator and the Harry Potter films.
Vibrant and friendly, The Holly Bush welcomes its diverse clientele at any time of day or evening, from mothers on the school run popping in for coffee and groups of ladies enjoying lunch, to couples savouring an intimate evening meal and groups of friends looking to celebrate. Children are easily amused by the boxes of Lego available to play with, and four-legged friends are equally welcome.
The inside space is stylish yet comfortable, thanks to a diverse mix of rustic wooden furnishings, contemporary lighting and colourful fabrics. Broad oak tables provide ample room for families and groups to spread out. The outside space is a joy to behold, filled with large benches and cosy colourful blankets under a sheltered wooden canopy.
The menu changes daily and diners can choose from the likes of garlic and chilli tiger prawns to start, followed by succulent sea bass fillet served with chorizo black pudding and new potatoes. Finish with one of the luxurious desserts, such as indulgent Eton Mess cheesecake. Make sure to check out the brunch offerings which are sure to brighten up your morning. The chefs make use of local produce, and the meat is sourced from an award-winning butcher nearby. Wine is sourced from small, independent vineyards, while at least two local ales are always available at the bar. The coffee is from Horsham Coffee Roasters, renowned for freshly roasted beans. Pop in for the afternoon and accompany your latte with a slice of homemade cake – make sure you try the popular blueberry and almond.
The Holly Bush is a particularly special place for private dining. When booked in advance, groups of 12 to 18 guests can choose from one of three menus, and will be spoilt by a selection of mouth-watering modern cuisine. With friendly service, great food and a beautiful English country garden, The Holly Bush is hard to fault.
