The Cricketers Arms
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

Tangley, Andover, SP11 0SH

For a memorable country pub experience, there are few that can match The Cricketers Arms. Having been called 'as English as the game itself' by The Telegraph's Adam Edwards, this historic drover's inn was further ably described as 'a squat, cream-painted, brick building, with a 19th-century batsman cut out in cast iron above its painted sign.' Edwards also noted the 'cavernous inglenook fireplace' and how the 'low-beamed room - designed for crouching keepers, rather than lofty fast bowlers - is littered with original cricketing pictures on the walls'. Gravity-fed local ales and a firm wine list complement the homemade and home-cooked food that's on offer, with the homemade bread and cured and smoked meats in particular going very well with the traditional menu. The Cricketers is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and, with its ten Scandinavian timber-style chalets with television and internet access available too, really is a great base for discovering Hampshire
