Overlooking Southampton’s leafy East Park, within easy reach of the city centre’s popular shops and attractions, you’ll find The Jurys Inn – a building of stature with a modern interior, well-appointed rooms, a bustling bar and an impressive restaurant. The Kitchen Restaurant occupies a large proportion of the ground floor.
Open to guests and non-residents alike, the restaurant is a great choice for every occasion, be it a romantic meal for two, a business lunch, or family dining. The restaurant offers a vast array of dishes, from light bites and bar snacks, to a varied à la carte selection. Whether you just want a quick bite to eat before heading out to explore the city or a leisurely three-course meal with friends and family, there’s something for everyone at this vibrant bar and restaurant.
The staff were attentive throughout the evening; nothing was too much trouble for the observant and knowledgeable team. Daily specials are available alongside the à la carte. My starter of baked Camembert was perfectly gooey, studded with garlic and served with caramelised onion chutney and toasted granary soldiers. My partner opted for lightly battered salt and pepper squid, which was extremely tender with a little kick of heat. The starters were perfectly paired with a glass of Picpoul de Pinet – a crisp white from the varied wine list.
My main course of maple- and Bourbon-glazed chicken, red slaw and skin-on fries looked and tasted fantastic. The meat was sweet and sticky and balanced perfectly with the moreish slaw: a crunchy mix of cabbage and red onion in creamy dressing. I couldn’t resist a taste of my partner’s mouth-watering sirloin steak, which was served pink and tender. For dessert, we shared the rhubarb crème brûlée. This scrumptious sweet was a perfectly executed finale to a memorable meal.
