This review took place at Ruchetta in Wokingham, but both restaurants offer a similar menu and experience.
At first sight, you know the intimate cottage that houses Ruchetta in Wokingham is going to contain something quite special. And so it does - this is a seriously good Italian restaurant. Ruchetta brings together owner Angelo's 30 years of passion for fine dining and hospitality, and represents the art and craft of a master restaurateur in his prime.
Inside, the decor is elegant but quietly understated. Their wine selection has been carefully chosen from Italian vineyards to offer contrast and stimulation, while the menu offers an impressive choice of culinary sensations created from the finest ingredients. Lunchtime diners are able to enjoy two courses from a shortened version of the evening menu, all at a price of marvellous value that has remained unchanged for the past ten years.
During our visit, I dined on smoked salmon from their own smokery, enjoyed a variety of ravioli (lobster, truffle and artichoke) and feasted on tender boned and stuffed quail. My husband chose a creamy risotto starter, followed by fresh cod from Newlyn that was baked with a herb crust. We rounded our meal off with a classic tiramisu. Attention was given to every detail throughout. Ruchetta will satisfy the most discerning of tastes, and is a joy for all occasions. The same can be said of is its sister restaurant at Peppard Common near Henley
