Argentina is famed for its beef and its cultural diversity, and both are reflected in the exciting contemporary dishes served at CAU.
Steak is at the heart of the menu, with classic cuts such as sirloin and rib-eye but also speciality cuts such as succulent lomito, which blends the tastiness of rump steak and the tenderness of fillet, or the flavoursome asado de chorizo, a sirloin steak marinated in smoked paprika chilli flakes, garlic and parsley. All of CAU's steaks come from grass-fed Argentinian beef and are served with chips and salad. A range of weights is available, and if you really love your meat, you can always ask for a larger cut. They also do a wonderful Sunday roast. It isn't all about the beef, though. There's a tempting selection of Latin and Latin- Asian fusion starters including roasted vegetable quesadillas, salt and pepper squid with chipotle mayo, and smoked beef salad with mooli, fennel, coriander, and soy and wasabi dressing. There are some mouth-watering fish dishes too, such as CAU's own version of paella, made with angel hair pasta, and the chef's fish choice of the day, fresh from the market. Even the breakfasts and desserts have an exotic Argentinian touch. Latin eggs make a hearty brunch, being served with grilled avocado, toasted muffins, fresh Hollandaise sauce and a drizzle of chimichurri, an invigorating herb, garlic and chilli sauce, while dulce de leche pancakes make a divinely sweet dessert. As well as a wide range of other drinks, CAU offers four own-brand wines, specially selected to accompany the premium dishes.
Both Berkshire venues are light and spacious and feature CAU's trademark decor of sleek futuristic booths, lush green grass and clear blue skies. At Henley, the interior is in stunning contrast to the historic red brick and leaded lights of the exterior. The purpose-built glass and timber building of the Reading restaurant allows you to make the most of any real blue skies by eating al fresco on the terrace or by enjoying the views from the large windows overlooking the River Kennet. It's conveniently located in The Oracle shopping centre, making it an ideal place to relax and refuel during or after a day's shopping
