Kings Head Inn

Rye Hill, Rye, TN31 7NH
This recently refurbished 17th-century coaching inn is only a ten-minute walk from the centre of the historical hilltop town of Rye with its cobbled streets, picturesque fishing fleet and ancient smugglers' haunts. New landlords Steve and Lisa Tindall offer a warm welcome, elegantly appointed rooms, freshly cooked food and great beer. There's a patio garden that's ideal for warmer weather, and roaring fires will keep you warm in winter.
The ingredients for their tasty pub classics and seasonal specials are locally sourced where possible and include delicious fresh fish from Rye Bay. They do a fabulous beer-battered pollock served with homemade tartare sauce, and a tasty starter of sausages made to an original local recipe. Nibbles, antipasti sharing platters and homemade desserts also feature on the menu, and at lunchtime there's a selection of freshly baked artisan baguettes with a variety of fillings. Steve and Lisa are happy to cater for special dietary requirements, and vegetarian options are a regular feature of the menu.
To drink, there's an extensive list of wines by the glass or the bottle, a range of malts and a selection of cask ales - including local Harveys Best Bitter. Children are well catered for with their own dedicated menu, and dogs are allowed in the bar and patio area. The Kings Head hosts regular quiz nights and live music events, making it a great place for a fun evening out as well as for a tasty meal or a relaxing stay
