We were genially welcomed into this historic, traditional pub set in the heart of Saint Aldate's. Taking in the cosy atmosphere, our nostrils were immediately filled with the sweet aromas of Thai cuisine and we turned our attention to the extensive menu. This offered a hefty selection of soups, salads, curries and fried dishes with accompanying noodle and rice options, although there were English classics like fish and chips on show as well. Our starters of prawn toast and chicken satay arrived perfectly presented. The former was nice and crispy with a homemade sweet chilli sauce to provide a welcome kick, while the chicken satay was tender and beautifully marinated. We then eagerly devoured the pad nam mun hoi - stir-fried pork with oyster sauce and vegetables, served with a fl awless dome of soft steamed jasmine rice, boasting subtle yet sumptuous fl avours. The pad priew wan with stir-fried chicken and vegetables came in a deliciously spiced sweet and sour sauce and was faultless. Service was prompt, friendly and personable throughout, with recommendations aplenty from staff who took a real interest in our preferences. They guided us through the huge variety of thirst-quenching beverages on offer, which included everything from fine wines, spirits and ales, to soft drinks and everything in-between, and helped to make our meal the exquisite experience it was.
